Hi Friends,
The most expected love story of the year 2012. After 'Em Maya Chesav' the expectations were sky high for this movie. The story had the 'Hit Pair' of Nani and Samanta; after Eega. Gautam Vasudev Menon, is a name you would associate with quality movies.
Story and Plot:
The story revolves around a boy and a girl. They know each other ever since they are eight years old. They part for childish reason at that age.
They again come together at 20. Then they part due to various reasons. The boy is career oriented after a situation at residence and the girl is for the boy. A misunderstanding and they decide to part.
Both time the girl calls for a quit.
They again come together after the boy's MBA and girl does not want to get back. The guy agrees to marry someone else. The guy finally calls off the marriage to come back.
Negatives:
1. Weak story line.
2. Too much of talking and story does not have any other shade.
3. Narration could have been better.
4. Ilayaraja songs disappoint.
Positives:
1. Samantha and Nani pairing.
2. Old Ilayaraja songs being hummed.
Went in with a lot of hopes. Movie does not live up.

Talaash: A Reema Kagti Take
Hi Friends,
First day -last show of Aamir Khan movie. A movie with Kiran, Sushma ( my co-brother and sister ) and Shravanthi. We just happened to collect tickets on time and enter the theatre Rex.
Talaash:
The movie begins with a car flying over the road into sea and death of a famous actor. The cop in charge of the case is Aamir Khan. Aamir Khan starts the search for the clues. The death due to car accident has no reason. Aamir meets Kareena, who is a sex worker. She starts interacting with him and gives clues.
Aamir's past story starts with a disturbed story of the past. Aamir's son is dead and he is disturbed, with the thought that the death is caused by his negligence.
In between this, Aamir starts the search. The case moves into a doubt over the sex worker agent, then to his friend, and the doubt over other characters in the plot. The movie is gripping and keeps you in a thought of suspense.
At certain points, you later realise the truth of the story is already revealed. Aamir's role as a distrubed father and sincere cop is well portrayed. Rani Mukherjee's role is minimal. Kareena does well and plays a pivotal role in the movie.
The story gives a good feel and the climax is one to look forward to.
Positives:
1. A gripping narration.
2. Aamir's involvement with the character.
3. Kareena's role, very well played.
4. Good songs, which move the story forward.
5. Background score of the movie is gripping.
Negatives:
The plot could have been better with a lot more characters, being affected in the plot.
Movie is a definite hit for Aamir. But, it reaching the ambitious 300 crore mark is not very likely.

Jab Tak Hai Jaan: A Veer Zaara Retake
Hi Friends,
First movie after Engagement. Went with an espectation of a Yash Chopra Romance. The movie was not too much of a disappointment, a one time watch for the locations and the ideal love story by Yash Chopra.
A second take by Yashji, on Veer Zaara.
Jab Tak Hai Jaan.
SRK works in the bomb squad and is a lonely guy. Saves Anushka and gives his jacket, the jacket contains the diary of his love story.
SRK is a struggling musician and does odd jobs. Falls in love with Katrina. Katrina turns out to be a girl driven by prayers and sacrifices. She would sacrifice SRK, for SRK to live after an accident. All this is a story read by Anushka, after getting SRK's diary.
The second half continues with Anushka following SRK and falling for SRK. For Anushka, a project with the army is the take of the role. For the project to be relayed, SRK has to come to UK; the plot where the story begins.
As per ideal love story stands, again SRK meets with a shock and an accident and thereby loses memory and goes back to the days of Katrina. Katrina comes back to his life and all the confusion. Katrina finally agrees and the perfect end to a perfect love story in Karan Johar and Yash Chopra terms.

Went to the movie with Sumanth. The movie was a big disappointment coming from Jagan and Pavan Kalyan combination after a long wait, after Badri.

Maatran / Brothers: Surya's Attempt to Roles with a Difference
Hi,
After my posts of the last two movies, this morning; its time to blog about the movie I watched today. It's Surya's Maatran. First Surya movie, in telugu, in theatre.
Went to the movie with my cousin. The movie is yet another attempt by Surya to show a difference in the characters chosen. K.V. Anand comes with a different concept after Ayan with Surya.
Maatran / Brothers:
The movie deals with the conjoint twins Surya being born to a Genetic Scientist. The conjoint twins grow up together, without being separated. One is more the studious and geek kinds. The other is more a brash. The dances and fights being picturised together, are something to watch out for. Kajol Agarwal is a translator by profession, who likes the geeky Surya.
Surya's father in the movie runs a Enery Drink company called Energion. The plot is about a journalist investigating about Energion company. Mysterious deaths happen. Finally the journalist dies too, who had come from Ukrain. This reveals a few truths about the company to one of the conjoint twins, when the other is drunk.
In an attempt to rob away the pen drive, containing information about Energion; one of the conjoint twin faces a brain hammerage. The heart is transplanted from the geeky Vimal ( Surya ) to Akhil ( Surya ).
Akhil realises that his father has an involvement and that has led to Vimal's death. A series of quests happen in a country in Russia. The end is about what has happened with Energion and what is the twist played by Surya's father in Energion.
Positives:
1. Surya as Conjoint twins.
2. Another medical saga.
3. A good story and nice camera work.
Negatives:
The second half could have been cut short/ trimmed to make the movie, a little more crisp.

English Vinglish: A Sridevi movie for the New Generation
Hi,
The movie plan was made on a Sunday morning. With my buddies Swathi, Shruthi and Vivek. The show at Urvashi at 2.30. Made it to the theatre and with Swathi getting her car for a Sunday Drive.
English Vinglish....
The title itself said it was going to be a simple movie, with not too much of non-sense.The movie lives up to that.
The movie starts with Sridevi in a household and two kids. The younger child, Sagar is a treat to watch. A very cute act, through out the movie. Sridevi struggles with English and is snubbed by her daughter quite a few times for not being good at it. A few scenes like, mother not being welcomed by the child to school for the parent-teacher's meet as she cannot communicate that well are very well acted out.
Amidst all this, Sridevi is also a small time business lady with making laddoos. This makes a sketch of her as trying to be independent and one who wants to do something. The story moves to the next episode where Sri is asked to come to USA to help her elder sister's daughter's wedding.
A series of nice scenes with the embassy and in the flight with Mr. Amitabh coming in for a special appearance.
Sri reaches America to a series of events that makes her feel bad about. A lady at a coffee shop is not cordial, as her English is not up to mark and an inability to communicate. This leads Sri to enroll into an English class. The rest of the story is about Sri making her efforts to learn English and a set of English learning students, from various parts of the world.
The conscious of an Indian woman to her family and her responsibility is etched well.
Postives:
1. Srideviji s acting. For our generation, who have not watched many of her movies in theaters.
2. Simple Story and subtle message.
3. Character etching.
Negatives:
Cannot think of anything for now.
Summary:
A simple message asking for an ever adorable Indian woman to become more self reliant and take up challenges,which she has always been capable of. I want to take my mother and sister to this movie, who have handled lives very well and have stayed at home, due to the society set up in India.

Rebel: A Raghava Lawrence Repeat Telecast
Hi Friends,
Yet anotther telugu movie, for a saturday timepass. Had been to the movie with my brother-in-law. Not many expectations though, from the film. Went to the movie to watch Prabhas' Action and better dances, due to Lawrence's presence.
The movie starts with the power full hero getting hit and also some brahmanandam comedy. The movie gives you hints of relations to past. The movie moves abroad, where Prabhas tries to woo Tamanah. A regular brainless girl character for Tamanah again. Romantic scenes do not appeal. This is second next to only her role in a Vijay movie Sura. The movie moves back to India.
Prabhas' past is being detailed with another girl in his life then. A routine telugu movie story. Krishnam Raju, Prabhas' real life uncle plays his father. A rather powerful father and a god father figure for the place. Rest of the movie, is as expected a story of revenge.
Old Wine in New Bottle.
Positives:
1. Prabhas' well built body and a few over rated action. ( If you like it)
2. Tamanah's glamour.
Negatives:

Life is Beautiful : A Shekhar Kammula Formula
Life Is Beautiful....
A movie I would remember Sumanth ditching us, after prolonged pestering to join us. Some how, he never came. Sumanth we would remember you for this. Ha ha :)
It is Ganesha Chaturti and movie on the festive afternoon is a perfect relaxation.
Shekhar Kammula movie is a 'Manchi Coffeelanti Cinema' for sure. The movie is a feel good movie and is in lines with the previous Shekhar Kammula movies.
The movie starts with Amala having 3 kids. Amala's son is the main hero of the movie. The movie moves to a colony, where the Hero gets his gang of friends; as Amala states she has to take a transfer and cannot live with them. Abhi and Nagaraj along with the Hero form the trio. The colony depicts the joy of friendship and laughter. Small things that bring joy are captured well.
Hero falls in love with Paddu, who happens to be related. Abhi falls for Shriya from the rich neighbourhood.
Nagaraj is in love with Lakshmi. Movie is fun to watch with a decent storyline and a neighbourhood that you can relate.
In the revenge spree the rich neighbourhood, traps the Hero's sister in a fake love affair. Hero is accused of trapping Paddu. The time when the Hero wants to meet his mother and when they do reach the place, the hero realises Amala, his mother is suffering from Cancer.
In the usual turn of events, Hero and his sister turn serious and do well for their lives. Hero is placed in Google, a change from Happy Days, Wipro.
Amala retuns healthy fighting Cancer and happiness is in abundance in the colony, without too much money.
Positives:
1. Feel good factor of the neighbourhood.
2. Fresh faces and lovable music.
3. Shriya Saran and Maya ( Anjala Zaveri) add to the glamour quotient.
Negatives:
1. Overdose of the coffee, which Kammula usually gets right.
2. Beauty competition and the flight scene are not convincing.
3. Could have had more gripping story.
Rating: 3/5
A sure, one time watcher.

Barfi ! : Almost a Perfect Triangular Love Story

I'm back after sometime. The movie spree starts again. Today was Bharath Bandh, never expected theatres to be open. Thanks to Raghu and Meghna, the restless souls :), who made it for us. Finally we booked our tickets at Cinepolis, Bannerghatta Road and a 8.30 pm show.
Barfi !!!!
I'm really a little confused as to where do i start and where to end. Almost an hour after movie, when I'm writing this and still don't feel its over. In girls terms, Barfi is so cute.... All girls would want to take him home.
The movie begins with an old Barfi, falling off from his chair in a hospital in 2012. The movie then moves to Calcutta, to introduce an old looking Ileana; with photos of her with Barfi. Memoirs flow and back and forth to 1972 and 1978. Barfi's love for Ileana is just too good. Ileana falls for Barfi, but with the Indian mother's invasion and not so strong Ileana... Love fails.
Back in 1978 again Ileana finds Barfi in Calcutta and on her reporting of Jhilmil's missing case; Barfi is caught. This is the scene that opens in Ileana s memoirs. Ileana is called Shruthi. All the telugu movie goers might remember, where was she called Shruthi... You got it right Pokiri, her all time big hit. For my Hindi friends, this is the original of the Salman starrer Wanted.
Barfi is arrested for Bank robbery and Kidnap of Jhilmil. You must have guessed by now. Jhilmil is PC. PC (Priyanka Chopra) as her usual, does not let you down in her role. Ileana waits in the Police Station and is taken back by her husband. According to police, they have two notes asking for different amounts of money and they have a complaint of a guy pushing Jhilmil into river after taking the demanded 1 lakh rupees.
Where did Jhilmil meet Barfi and other questions of what happens is the sweetest love story, arguably. Jhilmil, who is kidnapped by someone else is taken away by Barfi. Barfi leaves her back, but Jhilmil continues to follow. Have to quote this here, just can't stop laughing at the thought. This was after the movie, when a girl was searching/ rather following her guy. She went on yelling Barfi Barfi, to be shocked by the embarassed people around.
Barfi is with Jhilmil in Calcutta. Leading their lives their own ways, till barfi meets Shruthi. Barfi's character here is etched very beautifully. But, Jhilmil feels she is not the appropriate for Barfi and goes back to Muskaan ( Place for Autistic) and the plot for her fake murder and kidnap is followed from here.
Finally Barfi meets Jhilmil. Shruthi has come back to protect Barfi, leaving her husband in 1978. Barfi and Jhilmil marry. Shruthi starts teaching the deaf and dumb. Amazing movie. Feels i have watched another movie in the range of Sagara Sangamam, Swati mutyam ( Kamal Hasan) classics. Ranbir moves into a different league altogether as an actor.
Positives:
1. Amazing screen play.
2. All roles are played to perfection. Barfi, Jhilmil and Shruthi.
3. Nice debut for Ileana.
4. Anurag Basu's direction is Excellent. Not easy to hold an audience, with a movie for 3 hrs and as few dialogues for a max of 25 mins.
5. Pritam s music is commedable.
Negatives:
1. Not actually - Barfi learns to write and writes B - in reverse. The title could have been with an ulta ( reverse/ mirrored) B.
Rating: 4.95/5
I would tell, a movie not to be missed. Ranbir, you deserve a National Award this year. All the best.

Where did Jhilmil meet Barfi and other questions of what happens is the sweetest love story, arguably. Jhilmil, who is kidnapped by someone else is taken away by Barfi. Barfi leaves her back, but Jhilmil continues to follow. Have to quote this here, just can't stop laughing at the thought. This was after the movie, when a girl was searching/ rather following her guy. She went on yelling Barfi Barfi, to be shocked by the embarassed people around.
Barfi is with Jhilmil in Calcutta. Leading their lives their own ways, till barfi meets Shruthi. Barfi's character here is etched very beautifully. But, Jhilmil feels she is not the appropriate for Barfi and goes back to Muskaan ( Place for Autistic) and the plot for her fake murder and kidnap is followed from here.
Finally Barfi meets Jhilmil. Shruthi has come back to protect Barfi, leaving her husband in 1978. Barfi and Jhilmil marry. Shruthi starts teaching the deaf and dumb. Amazing movie. Feels i have watched another movie in the range of Sagara Sangamam, Swati mutyam ( Kamal Hasan) classics. Ranbir moves into a different league altogether as an actor.
Positives:
1. Amazing screen play.
2. All roles are played to perfection. Barfi, Jhilmil and Shruthi.
3. Nice debut for Ileana.
4. Anurag Basu's direction is Excellent. Not easy to hold an audience, with a movie for 3 hrs and as few dialogues for a max of 25 mins.
5. Pritam s music is commedable.
Negatives:
1. Not actually - Barfi learns to write and writes B - in reverse. The title could have been with an ulta ( reverse/ mirrored) B.

Julayi : Trivikram Dialogue Show
Hi Friends,
I badly wanted to watch the movie, because of only one reason; if you guessed it, you probably got it right. Yes, its Trivikram.
I tried getting in touch with a few friends Sumanth, Venkatesh and Prashanth; all were busy and i happened to start to a movie alone. My usual. Luckily, as I reached the theatre I find my college buddy Nagesh, waiting in the queue, my day was done I had company.
Movie starts with a voice over by Prakash Raj " Life anedi highway…gelupu anedi one way…short cuts ki no way". Movie revolves around a bank robbery plot. Allu Arjun ( Ravi ), who want to earn easy money is also in the scene and discussing his betting adventure with the gang, out to steal; lead by Sonu Sood. The hero character is intelligent and the observant nature of the character is very well displayed. The screenplay rocks, in every scene; when the director puts forth from where the hero was pulling up information.
Ravi moves from Vizag to Hyderabad, famously called 'Witness Relocation Program'. This is the plot for a love story between hero and heroine. The romantic scenes are fresh and nice, with Trivikram dialogue touch.
Heroine works for a company, which is involved with making Fake Passports and Hero starts to discover the mystery behind the theft again.
The story moves into family sentiment, where Ravi s father is shot. Bharani s dialogue here,"Pandavulu okkasari joodam aadinanduke kurukshetram ayindi, nuvvu okkasari padi velu adiginanduku pranala daka vochhindi" a dialogue that signifies the effect of gambling. Hats off Trivikram Sir.
The story revolves into a mystery and then finishing touches, where the hero saves the stolen money and returns it to the people, who had lost it because of a bank.
Positives:
1. Arjun s acting, dances... dances looks like Raghav Jugal of Dance India Dance fame, still curious.
2. Super Comedy.
3. Trivikram Punch Dialogues.
4. Nice Screenplay
Negatives:
1. Director Trivikram missed a trick, by smoking up the money. The audience always has a thought, why was Kota Srnivas Rao interested in escaping Sonu, if the money was smoked up. Could have been handled better.

Entertainment guaranteed with all the comedians, Rajendra Prasad and Allu Arjun around.

Dandupalya : Do not give Water or open doors to strangers.
Dandupalya
Watched this movie and was coming back home with my friend. Spoke about how the movie was as violent as Rakta Charitra and how the Director had done good research. This was a night show, after my friend left; had to reach my place. The stairs were dark and as i was walking up the stairs, when i was reminded of the characters of the movie Dandupalya.
Thanks Director for a good movie, after a series of Kannada flops that i saw.
Positives:
The movie deals with a gang that torutred Bangalore city a few years ago. The story is a narration by the Police inspector dealing with the case. The movie starts with gang being caught and the inspector torturing them for the reasons.
Actor Pooja Gandhi, the Swades Yuhi Chala Singer and the inspector have played their roles to perfection. The movie is about these gangsters that are killing people around Bangalore for money and raping them after killing them.
They had a signature style of their own, by killing all the victims; by slitting the throats.
The worry of the inspector, a family of Raghu Mukherji and the way the gang killed people comprises of the story. The story is dealt well. Luckily songs were cut, good one. A romantic song here, would have spoilt the plot.
The movie is a good effort by the director and gutsy role to be portrayed by Pooja Gandhi.
Negatives:
Too much violence shown in the movie. Tough to watch, if you are weak hearted.
Raghu Mukherji's role had very less significance. That could have been portrayed by anyone. The actor tries to kill himself and appears in the end. A little blank left, as to what happens after the actor slits his hand and how does he come alive in the end.

Eega : A Director's Greatness
Eega....
Came back from a trip last evening at 5.45pm. Tried getting to the movie for evening and night show. Unfortunately or fortunately could not get tickets. The tickets were not available, even after reaching the theatre at 9 30 am today morning. Finally decided, whatever it is; had to watch today and reached the theatre again at 1 45 pm. Finally got tickets in black, after seeing all theatres were full; all credit to book my show.
The benefit of goin third time and today afternoon show; we see Sudeep and Naani at the theatre. They watched more than half the movie with the crowd.
The movie's storyline is as simple as a the tag line of the movie, " An Ulitmate Revenge Story". A guy loves girl, guy gets killed by the villain and villain is killed by the hero, who is a fly in the next birth.
Positives:
The movie starts with the director detailing the actress as a miniature artist and the villain as a shooter, a millionaire and a guy who wants everyone woman he saw.
The movie moves quickly with the hero dying in the first half an hour to forty five mins. The next birth is eega ( the fly ). The fly starts haunting the villain ( Sudeep ) in all ways possibe. The ways that the fly finds to trouble a human is something really funny and interesting. The first half ends with the fly causing an accident to the villain and letting him know, that the it had come to kill him.
Got a gliumpse of Sudeep, at the interval and had seen Naani, before the start of the movie.
The fly goes on to meet the heroine and the heroine is now aware; that the hero has come back in the next birth. The miniature artist that she is starts creating weapons for the fly. Funny, but nice to watch on screen.
After several attempts and various incidents, and almost killing itself the fly kills the villain.
Thanks to amazing graphics. S.S. Rajamouli, the Director take a bow. You deserve it. Anyone else, could have screwed up on such a subject.
All of you all might be wondering, why am i praising a movie that is so hypothetical. You are right. I'll tell you the final twist in that tale. The movie begins with a father telling his daughter a story of Eega ( the fly) and a bad boy Sudeep.
So all this was just an imaginary story by a dad to a daugher.
So, just enjoy.
Negatives:
Probably a little too imaginary. You will need the mind of a child to wonder and enjoy.
Just treat it as a gift of Rajamouli to his kids and all the kids around the world.

A movie long awaited. A one time watch. Lot will be expected from Karthi, not up to expectation.
Positives:
1. Goods Songs
2. Karthi and Santanam's Comedy
3. Prakash Raj's Acting as usual.
4. Decent enough story
Negatives:
1. No role for heroine.
2. An actor like Roja, wasted. No Role.
3. Villain should have been powerful. No attacks on hero, except a wrong case.
Enjoy the comedy and Karthi's acting. It could have been better with Karthi at the helm.
